ORLANDO CARD SHOWS

Trying to revive one of the best hobbies that has been around since the late 1800’s.

I started collecting in the late 70’s, when my neighbor in Woodhaven, Queens, introduced me to the hobby. He would send my friend and me to the corner candy store and would give us money to purchase packs for him and a few for us. That was the beginning of over 40 years of collecting. As like most of us, I collected heavily during the late 80’s and 90’s. Then between the saturation of cards, the price increase that most kids could not afford and the baseball strike of 1994 the hobby dwindled.

Let us fast forward now to 2016…

an avid collector and a great man John Mitchell started the Orlando Area Card Show in Maitland. John’s vision was to restore and revive this awesome hobby and at the same time raise some money for a local non-profit. At the end of 2018, John expressed his hopes to retire as a promoter of the show and handed the baton over to me, to continue the re-birth of the hobby and card shows. This has actually been a dream of mine for many years and it allows me to raise money for my foundation (The Oranole Foundation). The reception of the community and the collectors that have been attending from out of town has been unbelievable. I have met families that are now collecting, mothers and fathers that are collecting with their children. Friends that instead of being behind a remote are having conversations about card collecting. There is a big comeback for this hobby, come see us, bring your family and friends and let’s have some fun. Thank you to all the customer’s and vendors that have played a part on making this a success.

Happy Collecting!

EXPLORE CARD SHOW

I had the best time! I was able to sell some of my cards and buy some other ones that I’ve really been wanting. It was fun to do it with my brother and my dad! I can’t wait until the next one!

John

What a great thing for us here in Orlando. I use to collect when I was younger but stopped because there were no shows locally. I was lucky to find this show a few years ago and now collecting is a family thing with my wife and children. Love it!

Dave

As a child I use to see my Dad and brothers sorting their cards at home and saw the joy of them spending time together. My husband and I are now collecting and having this joy with my daughter and son. The vendors are great and the show has such a family setting. Thank you Orlando Card Show.
